About this spot
From Cambridge, take exit off Interstate 77 and head east on State Route 40 for approximately 3 miles. Turn right onto State Route 265 and drive about half a mile, then turn right onto Reservoir Road. Travel 1 to 1.5 miles until you encounter a "no parking" sign on the right—parking in this location results in a $100 fine. Continue another quarter to half mile and turn left to park on the abandoned rail road tracks. Walk back toward the no parking sign and locate a dirt trail to the right that leads into the woods. The trail provides access to four distinct jumping locations with two rope swings. The first area features two rope swings; the right swing performs better than the left. To use the right swing, obtain a long stick and use the smaller tree with attached ropes to rappel down to the larger tree below, then use the stick to retrieve the rope and climb back up. The second location, known as the root jump, requires running a short trail before launching approximately 6 to 8 feet into the water—take care not to trip during the approach. The third site contains three separate jumps: one positioned atop a small knob on the right, a middle jump angled slightly rightward, and a third that involves running and jumping while clearing low vegetation under the small cliff. This location suits those new to cliff jumping and accommodates swimming and fishing as well.
