About this spot

From Portland, head east on I-84 toward Hood River and take Exit 41 for Eagle Creek Recreation Area. Turn right at the stop sign. You can drive to the trailhead or park at the first lot on your left, where there's a payment station ($5). Walk or drive the remaining distance to reach the trail. The location sits approximately 2 miles along the route. Punchbowl Falls is the main feature here. After jumping, swim toward the right side to reach nearby rocks where you can rest briefly. To exit, walk as far as possible along the rocks before jumping back into the water and swimming out. The water temperature runs quite cold year-round.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
