About this spot
Starting from Bend, travel north on Highway 97 toward Madras. Watch for directional signage leading to Cove Palisades State Park and follow it to Lake Billy Chinook. Continue on the main road that parallels the lake and cross the initial bridge to access the boat launch area on the Deschutes Arm. You have two options: launch a boat from this point, or proceed further to a second bridge spanning the lake. The cliff sits some distance upstream from the second bridge. Land-based access requires a substantial walk upriver past the bridge and then swimming across the water to reach the site. Water access via boat provides a more straightforward approach to the location.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
