About this spot
The Narrows and Sundial Rock are basalt ledges on the Molalla River, reached via South Molalla Forest Road south of Molalla — a short, easy trail from a roadside turnout leads down to the rock. From Portland, take I-205 south to the Molalla exit, drive through town toward Feyrer Park, and continue on South Molalla/Dickie Prairie Road toward the forest road. Broad, flat slabs serve as sunbathing platforms above a deep, narrow channel pool. Depth, current, and submerged debris shift with water level and season and aren't officially monitored, so check conditions before jumping. No fee for roadside parking; the approach can wash out or flood in wet months, so conditions vary trip to trip.
