About this spot

Travel north via Route 17 through Middletown until reaching Main Street in town. Stay on Main Street as it becomes Route 66, which carries you across the bridge spanning into Portland, CT. As the bridge terminates, a right turn appears leading downward. Take the second left-hand turn and proceed toward the railway tracks. After crossing the tracks, a dirt parking area with dumpsters is on your left—use this to leave your vehicle. From there, walk onto the railroad tracks and access the train bridge itself. Launch your jump only after passing the point where the second truss structure begins. Water depth increases toward the middle section of the span. Available drop distances extend from approximately 35 feet up to nearly 70 feet for those ascending to the bridge's highest point.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
