About this spot
This route works well for visitors heading from Portland's south side and the northern Willamette Valley. Head east on Highway 26 toward Mt. Hood, passing through Government Camp before continuing toward Warm Springs and Bend. After entering the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, turn left onto Highway 216 toward Maupin and Bear Springs. Follow Highway 216 for roughly 30 miles to Highway 197, then turn right and drive 2 miles into Maupin. Cross the river and travel north approximately 10 miles to Sherars Falls. Continue north another 5 to 10 miles until you reach a bend where the river curves from east to west at a small campground. The cliff formations are located on the north side of the river at this location.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
