About this spot

This flooded limestone quarry sits along the Delaware River in Lower Mount Bethel Township, roughly seven miles north of Easton on PA Route 611, directly behind the historic (closed 1964) Alpha Portland Cement site and across the road from the public Sandt's Eddy boat launch. The pit is worked by Eastern Industries as an active aggregate quarry and is not open to the public — reaching the water means crossing posted no-trespassing signs, fences, and active rail lines. The area has seen multiple drowning deaths in recent years amid rising illegal visits, with water depths reported over 100 feet and hidden ledges. Depths, submerged equipment, and rock stability are unconfirmed and unmarked. Treat this as a dangerous, off-limits industrial site, not a legal swimming destination.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
