About this spot

From Reading, PA, head north on Route 61. Near Hamburg, you'll encounter a Y intersection—keep left to continue on Route 61. You'll see a Wendy's and Burger King on your right side. Continue for a couple miles past these restaurants, then cross two consecutive bridges. After the second bridge, turn right onto the road marked with a "Schuylkill Water Gap" sign. Park along the right side of the road and locate the trail on the right that descends to the beach area. The cliff you're looking for is situated across the river, requiring you to swim to reach it. Be mindful of the river's current during your crossing. Always verify the water depth at your intended landing spot before jumping, as river conditions fluctuate significantly based on seasonal changes and recent weather.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
