About this spot
Acrigg's Falls is a 40-plus-foot cascade dropping in four or five stages along Rattling Run in Swatara State Park, right beside the historic hand-built Bordner's Cabin (1937-39). Reach it via the Bear Hole Trail from the Sand Siding Road/Swatara Rail Trail trailhead, about 1.5 miles one-way, or the Old State Road side. Multiple hiking guides describe it as a shaded, family-friendly spot good for wading and cooling off beside the cabin, but none document cliff jumping specifically, and the top of the run is fed by a drainage pipe under Interstate 81, which can affect water quality after storms. No fees; access is via state park trail, open dawn-to-dusk.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
