About this spot
Starting from Reading, PA, head north on Route 61 through the Hamburg area. At a Y-shaped intersection, keep left to remain on Route 61. You'll pass a Wendy's and Burger King on your right side. Continue for a couple miles and cross two consecutive bridges. After the second bridge, turn right onto a road marked with a "Schuylkill Water Gap" sign. Park along the roadside on the right, then locate the trail on the right side that descends to the beach area. The cliff face is situated across the river, requiring a swim to reach it. Be aware of river current strength and always verify water depth at your intended landing spot before jumping, as river conditions fluctuate significantly based on seasonal changes and recent weather patterns.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
