About this spot

The Gorge at Nay Aug Park is a scenic ravine on Roaring Brook in Scranton, Pennsylvania, reached from the Mulberry Street park entrance past the site's former swimming pool and petting zoo. A roughly 20-foot waterfall drops into a rock-walled pool that draws jumpers every summer, but swimming and diving here are illegal — the gorge has claimed an estimated four dozen lives since 1890 due to flash flooding, strong currents, and unpredictable water levels below the falls. City officials post warnings and periodically patrol the area. Marked trails and overlooks let visitors view the falls safely from above without entering the water; levels can rise suddenly after rain upstream.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
