About this spot

Found along the Newport cliff walk, this spot sits behind the grand estates, specifically adjacent to the property at 680 Bellevue Ave. The primary jump reaches approximately 30 feet, with additional smaller platforms nearby. The jumping location is accessed from the cliff walk just before the gate to 680 Bellevue, positioned to the left of a protruding rock formation in the water. Nobody has reported touching bottom, and a return ascent is possible by climbing slightly left of the jump point. Approaching from Providence, take I-95 south for roughly 12 miles to Route 4 south for about 10 miles. Continue onto Route 1 south, then connect to Route 138 east before turning onto Route 138A north. Head right onto Bellevue Ave, drive past the mansion, then turn left onto Ledge Rd and leave your vehicle at the terminus. Follow the cliff walk leftward for several minutes to reach the location.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
