About this spot

Mill Creek Falls, known locally as 'Left Hand,' is a 30-foot sandstone waterfall and swimming hole about one mile up the Mill Creek Trail southeast of downtown Moab — a free, easy 2-mile round-trip hike with several creek crossings and ancient rock art along the way. The plunge pool at the base draws cliff jumpers off ledges roughly 20-30 feet up, but the pool bottom is uneven and only about 6-7 feet deep at its deepest, so broken ankles and legs are a well-documented risk; four people were hurt jumping here over one recent Memorial Day weekend alone. Always scout the landing depth from above before jumping and never dive headfirst. No permit needed; park at the Powerhouse Lane trailhead.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
