About this spot
Hamilton Falls is a 125-foot smooth-stone cascade on Cobb Brook in the Hamilton Falls Natural Area, Jamaica, VT, clearly visible on satellite as a long bare rock slide. The state-recommended route is a roughly 3-mile one-way hike from Jamaica State Park (day-use fee applies) via the West River and Switch Road Trails; a very limited alternative lot exists on West Windham Road for those who can't do the full hike. Swimming and wading here are officially and strongly discouraged: strong currents and slick rock have caused more than a dozen deaths from people entering or trying to exit the upper and middle pools. Rangers patrol in peak season to enforce this. Treat it as a look-don't-touch waterfall, not a swimming hole.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
