About this spot
Abrams Falls is a real 75-foot plunge waterfall off Abrams Falls Rd northwest of Bristol, VA, now owned by Washington County and reached via a steep, narrow 0.75-mile trail. Visitors must request permission in advance (see the Mendota Trail/county process) before hiking in. The owners explicitly warn against climbing to the crest — moss-covered rocks have caused injuries and deaths — so this is documented as a scenic-viewing waterfall, not an established jump or swim spot.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
