About this spot

From Portland, head north on I-5 through Washington to Seattle, then continue north to exit 194. Take State Highway 2 east for 121 miles as it crosses Stevens Pass and descends the Cascade Range's eastern side into Wenatchee. Continue on Highway 2 north across the Columbia River for 13 miles through Orondo, then stay on Highway 2 east for another 48 miles to Coulee City. After getting gas, turn left onto Route 155 heading north. Banks Lake will appear on your left for approximately 18 miles until you reach a small widened area. Park along Route 155 on the left side, roughly 3 miles past Steamboat Rock State Park entrance and about 1 mile before Osbourne. Other vehicles will indicate the correct spot. The lake isn't visible from the parking area. A westward trail from the parking area leads to the cliff. After walking 500 yards through sagebrush terrain, the lake becomes visible. The water temperature reaches approximately 85 degrees during summer months. This region experiences extreme heat; temperatures can reach 109 degrees in August. Bring substantial amounts of water and sunscreen as essential items. Avoid landing near jet skis. Dehydration can lead to cramping and drowning risk, so maintain proper hydration before and during your visit.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
