About this spot

Devil's Punchbowl is the famous turquoise cove on Lake Crescent's north shore in Olympic National Park — a deep, glacier-fed inlet at the base of Pyramid Mountain, crossed by an arched footbridge, with rock ledges from about 10 to 25 ft. Park at the Spruce Railroad Trailhead on East Beach Road (the spot shows up on some maps under the trail's name) and walk the flat, paved trail about 1.2 miles to the bridge. The water is strikingly clear and stays cold all year — cold enough to take your breath — and submerged logs drift through, so check your landing every visit. It gets busy on summer weekends; go early. No fees beyond normal park access, and no lifeguards, ever.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
