About this spot

Eagle Falls is a roughly 25-foot cascade and swimming hole on the Skykomish River, right off Highway 2 near milepost 39 between Index and Halford — park at the pullout on the south side and take the short path down to the granite pool. It's one of the most popular jump and swim spots on Highway 2, with a rope swing nearby. This stretch is also genuinely dangerous: strong current, cold water, and submerged rock lead to multiple drowning deaths most summers, and rescue crews regularly pull bodies from this section of river. No permit or fee, but go with an experienced group and never jump alone.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
