About this spot
This location sits on West Virginia's second-largest lake, accessible via Route 19. The approach begins at a dirt parking area just before the Route 19 bridge crossing, heading southbound. Multiple well-established paths lead away from the parking spot toward cliff formations in various directions, all terminating at scenic overlooks. The Route 19 bridge becomes visible from the rocky areas once you walk around from your starting point. The shoreline features numerous cliff faces throughout. At the lake's primary bend, a particularly large cliff formation rises 70-80 feet, requiring advanced skill to safely jump. While boat access is an option, rental costs are prohibitively expensive, making the hiking approach more practical for most visitors.
