About this spot
Stephens Falls is a real, well-documented 20-30 foot cascade in Governor Dodge State Park, reached via a partly-paved 0.5-mile trail with stone steps down into a sandstone amphitheater draped in ferns and moss. It's a popular photo and hiking stop, named for the Stephens family farmstead once on the site. Swimming or jumping isn't documented here - coverage focuses on viewing and photography, and the park's designated swim beaches are separately located on Cox Hollow and Twin Valley Lakes. Slippery rocks and steep stairs are the main hazards.
