About this spot
Roosevelt Lake, Arizona's largest reservoir, sits below Theodore Roosevelt Dam in Tonto National Forest, with the arched Roosevelt Lake Bridge spanning the narrows just upstream of the dam. From Phoenix, take US-60 through Miami then AZ-188 to the bridge; a parking area with an observation deck sits between bridge and dam, with a trail descending to jump ledges among the rocky walls near Cholla Bay. Reported heights range from a modest 6-foot ledge up to a much taller 160-foot outcrop; treat the higher figure with real caution and verify locally, since a formation that tall is an outlier even by cliff-jumping standards. Lake levels fluctuate seasonally with drought, changing depth and exposing rocks.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
