About this spot
Belle Star Cave Falls sits in the Poteau Mountain Wilderness near Mansfield, where a waterfall drops in front of a cave large enough to stand or camp in, tied to outlaw Belle Starr legend. The hike runs about 3.9 miles round trip with roughly 900 feet of elevation gain, rated moderate to strenuous. Multiple trip reports, videos, and a USFS listing confirm the falls and cave, but none describe swimming or jumping — visitors come for the cave and scenery. Rock near the falls is often wet and slick; no fees, forest-road parking.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
