About this spot

Slate Falls is a 54-foot waterfall in the Poteau Mountain Wilderness of the Ouachita National Forest near Mansfield. The route is a 4.8-mile out-and-back, mostly on an old logging road, with an unmarked final half-mile bushwhack down to the falls (past reports mention sparse orange tags). Flow is rain-dependent and can be weak in dry spells. No fees; remote forest-road parking plus a long hike. No documented swimming or jumping activity was found — this reads as a hiking/photography destination.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
