About this spot

A high-clearance vehicle is recommended for this location, though not strictly necessary. From Ukiah or Eureka, take Highway 101 to Highway 20 toward Upper Lake. Continue on Highway 20 past Mendocino Lake, then use the next passing lane to turn left onto Potter Valley Road. Follow Potter Valley Road for approximately 10 minutes until you reach Potter Valley town's main street. Turn right onto Eel River Road at a small gas station and bar. Drive up the mountain and take the right fork at the summit to rejoin Eel River Road, watching for oncoming traffic. Before reaching a bridge, turn right onto an unmarked dirt road. Continue down this road past a gate for about 3 miles. After passing two left-hand turns, take the third left turn into an open area where the two main jump sites are located. The rock formations shift seasonally, so inspect your landing zone before jumping. Use caution to stay on designated roads, as local residents are protective of their property.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
