About this spot
Deep Creek Narrows is a granite gorge on Deep Creek in San Bernardino National Forest near Running Springs, California -- the database had it mislabeled in Upper Lake, CA, an unrelated town 400+ miles north. From Highway 330/18, take Hunsaker Way to West Drive, then Cove Circle about 500 feet to a dirt pull-out ringed by a cable barrier; a short unofficial trail drops to the gorge. Jumps run from short ledges up to a reported 82 feet, and the walls double as a deep-water-soloing climbing spot in the 5.7-5.9 range. Water is cold mountain runoff with an uneven, rocky bottom in places -- scout before jumping. No facilities, unmaintained access; conditions and flow shift seasonally.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
