About this spot

Located in Durham, CT, access this spot via Exit 11 off Route 9, then head west on Route 155. Turn left onto Millbrook Road and bear left again onto Foothills Road, where you'll find the parking area on your right. Enter the state park and follow the marked trail. Within the first couple minutes, you'll pass an opening showing the lake to your right and a grassy knoll to your left—the cliffs become visible across the water from here. Continue hiking for roughly five minutes until you reach a path junction marked with a white arrow on a tree; bear left and proceed another five to ten minutes on the main path to reach a wide overlook of the lake. The site features three primary jumps: a 10-foot option, a 20-foot option, and a 25-foot ledge positioned about 10 feet back from the water's edge. The higher ledge requires a substantial running start to clear both the ledge itself and surrounding vegetation. While swimming is permitted in the lake, cliff jumping technically falls into a gray area with park management, though visitors report no issues during previous visits.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
