About this spot

Begin your journey from New Haven by heading north on I-95, exiting at 74 and proceeding south along Route 161 toward Niantic. Once you pass a small body of water on your right, look for Roxbury Road. Continue on Roxbury Road for approximately a mile until you spot the landfill facility on your right side. Park your vehicle and proceed into the landfill property. The quarry sites are situated at the terminus of the landfill access road on the left side, adjacent to a water tower. A secondary road climbs upward along the quarry's edge. Midway up this road sits a smaller cliff offering jumps around 20 feet. Continuing further up toward the water tower reveals the primary cliff, reaching approximately 60 feet. Access is permitted Monday through Saturday only after 3:00 PM, and all day Sunday. These time restrictions exist because the landfill operates during morning and afternoon hours on weekdays and Saturdays.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
