About this spot

Waimea Bay Beach Park on Oahu's North Shore has one of Hawaii's most popular legal cliff jumps: 'Jump Rock,' a lava outcrop on the bay's north side offering entries from roughly 20 to 40 feet, reached by an easy walk from the beach parking lot. It's strictly a summer activity — from about May through September the bay is calm and jumping is common and lifeguard-supervised, but in winter (roughly November-February) the same spot becomes a world-class big-wave surf break with swells up to 40 feet, and jumping is unsafe and effectively closed by conditions. Parking fills fast in summer with overflow along the highway. Always check with on-duty lifeguards before jumping; conditions can change quickly even in season.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
