About this spot
Waimea Falls sits inside Waimea Valley, a paid botanical-garden park on Oahu's North Shore, at the end of a flat, paved half-mile walk. A lifeguard station monitors the plunge pool, and swimmers must check in and wear a provided life vest to enter the water. Jumping from the falls is no longer allowed; large submerged rocks near the base have caused serious injuries and deaths, so lifeguards actively enforce a no-jumping rule. This is a distinct location from Waimea Bay's famous ocean-side 'Jump Rock,' a separate cliff-jumping spot nearby. Valley admission is charged per person, hours are limited, and the pool can close after heavy rain due to flash-flood risk or water quality.
