About this spot
Historic 1876 wrought-iron truss bridge carrying Maple Road over the Huron River at Barton Hills, rehabilitated in 2003. Swimming and jumping here go back generations (photographed during a 1955 heat wave) but current-era jump activity is not independently confirmed the way it is at nearby Bandemer/Argo. The same Huron River hazards apply if attempted: hidden debris, current, and legal risk, plus the bridge itself has had recent structural closures and a posted 9-ft height restriction.
