In Duluth's Lester Park on the city's east end, Amity Creek tumbles over a small waterfall into a pool known locally as "The Deeps," with a roughly 25-foot cliffside above it. Park near the Lester Park golf course off London Road and follow the short trail down to the creek. Conditions swing hard with rainfall — heavy rain turns the creek fast, cold, and cloudy, hiding submerged rock, and a teenage boy has died cliff jumping here. Always check depth and current before jumping, never dive headfirst, and go with someone else. It's an unofficial, unsupervised spot with no lifeguards; the surrounding trails see heavy foot and bike traffic.
