About this spot
Situated near Farmington in Mine La Motte, Missouri, this former rock mining quarry was converted into a recreational swimming and diving destination when miners struck an underground spring that inundated the pit. The resulting body of water reaches depths far too extensive to reach the bottom, making it exceptionally safe for jumping activities. Year-round water temperature maintains approximately 50 degrees, allowing scuba diving during off-season periods. Entry costs $10, with tube rentals available for $2 upon providing a driver's license as collateral. Glass containers, beer bongs, kegs, and fireworks are prohibited. Multiple jump platforms range from 10 feet to approximately 60 feet in height. From St. Louis, take I-55 South to US-67 South and continue on 67 toward Farmington. Exit left onto Route 32 East and follow it through town. At Farmington's eastern edge, Route 32 becomes Route 00 (double zero); continue straight. The site appears 13 miles along Route 00 on the left side, marked by a prominent sign. From Kansas City, travel I-70 East to US-40 East, then I-270 South, followed by I-55 South and US-67 South. Exit left onto Route 32 East through Farmington, which transitions to Route 00 at town's end. Proceed 13 miles on Route 00 to the left-side location with directional signage.
