Deadwood Falls is a small cascade on Reynolds Creek in Glacier National Park, reached by an easy roughly 2.6-mile round-trip hike from the Jackson Glacier Overlook on Going-to-the-Sun Road, dropping about 665 feet in elevation over 1.2 miles down to the creek; it's named for burned trees lining the trail. Several independent hiking guides describe deep, clear pools above and below the falls that are genuinely swimmable, unusual for a Glacier waterfall, where swimming is normally discouraged. The real hazard is the water itself: glacier- and snowmelt-fed, it stays painfully cold even in midsummer, with real hypothermia risk for anyone lingering, plus slick rocks near the falls. No permit is needed for the day hike; exact jump heights are undocumented, so check current flow and conditions before swimming.
