About this spot
Access via Route 23 North (take Route 80 east from Pennsylvania or western New Jersey, exit at Wayne). Exit at Clinton Road and turn right, driving approximately 15 minutes through a residential area before entering woods alongside a large lake. The road surface transitions from rough to smooth; watch for a solitary white house on the right side. Beyond this house, a clearing with electrical transmission towers becomes visible. A small parking area sits on the left side of the road. Hike uphill next to the power lines through state park property. Halfway up, bear right to follow the blue-marked trail through the woods for roughly 30 minutes. At a T junction, turn right. Further along, the trail forks with views of a smaller lake visible from the elevated ridge. The right fork follows the blue trail, offering an easier route that terminates on the lake's opposite side from the cliffs, with swimming and a small beach area accessible. The left fork continues on the white trail, presenting a more challenging hike with boulder obstacles and marshy sections, leading directly to the cliff formations. Three main cliff tiers exist: 35 feet, 40-41 feet, and approximately 45 feet. The highest requires significant running distance to clear the lower cliff faces; insufficient speed results in striking rock. A large snapping turtle inhabits the water and occasionally surfaces for air. While it poses no threat to swimmers, contact should be avoided.
