About this spot
Bubbling Spring Branch Cascades is a 25-foot, three-tier cascade in Pisgah National Forest, 1.8 miles north of the Blue Ridge Parkway on NC-215 (Forest Heritage Scenic Byway) near Canton, NC. Roadside pull-off parking (unmarked, room for a few cars) leads to a short, steep hike to the falls. The shallow lower pool is a popular summer dip spot; a small natural slide at the top empties into a large, deep swimming hole not visible from the road. The hazard that matters: rocks are slick with algae and spray, loose stones sit underfoot, and multiple sources explicitly warn never to dive. Access is free and unrestricted within the national forest; no permits required. Best visited outside of high runoff, and expect crowds on summer weekends.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
