About this spot

Cathedral Falls is a 50-foot waterfall on a Linville River tributary inside the Linville Gorge Wilderness of Pisgah National Forest, reached by a difficult, roughly 4-mile round-trip hike starting off the rough gravel Kistler Memorial Highway (Old NC-105). Linville Gorge is federally designated wilderness, so no bikes or mechanized access are allowed, and no fees apply. Slick rock around the falls is called out as a specific hazard in trip reports. No swimming-hole or cliff-jumping culture is documented here — coverage treats it strictly as a remote hiking and photography destination — so pool depth and jumpability should be treated as unverified.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
