About this spot

The upper tier of Raven Cliff Falls, a 150-175 ft multi-drop cascade on Upper Creek in Pisgah National Forest (Burke County), where the creek bends around a rock cliff and hides the upper drops from view at the base of the lower falls. Reached via FR982 off NC-181, roughly 11 miles south of the Blue Ridge Parkway; there is no formal trail to the base, so most visitors wade and boulder-hop up the creek itself. Water levels and footing vary sharply with recent rainfall, and the boulder scramble is a genuine slip-and-fall hazard. No documented cliff-jumping or swimming-hole culture was found for this specific tier.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
