About this spot
Yellow Creek Falls is a well-documented swimming hole in the Nantahala National Forest near Robbinsville, reached by a short, easy 0.35-mile trail from a small gravel pullout on US-129 about 10.8 miles northwest of town. The creek drops roughly 50 feet into a pool that's popular with families for wading and cooling off in summer, with a boulder nearby for a distant view of the falls. The pool is shallow and the surrounding rock gets slick, and the Forest Service and local guides caution against climbing toward the top of the falls. Parking is limited to about six cars and there are no restrooms or other facilities, so this is a quick, informal stop rather than a full day-use area.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
