About this spot
Travel east on I-84 from Portland toward Hood River and take Exit 41 for Eagle Creek Recreation Area. At the stop sign, turn right. You can drive to the trailhead or park at the first pullout on the left after the stop sign, where there's a payment station ($5 fee). Walk or drive further down to park closer to the trail entrance. The hike to Punchbowl Falls takes approximately 2 miles. After jumping, swimming back to the exit point is a considerable distance, so consider swimming right toward the rocks to rest briefly before continuing. You'll need to walk as far as feasible along the rocks before re-entering the water to exit. The water temperature is quite cold.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
