About this spot

Law enforcement has increased patrols and are actively ticketing trespassers as of July 2009. One group was approached by police after spending two hours at the site but received only a warning because signage wasn't properly installed. To visit without incident, arrive briefly, avoid leaving traces of your presence, and park at a distance since the quarry isn't visible from the road. If questioned by authorities, claim you learned about the location from a friend rather than an online source. From Lancaster, PA, head south on 272 through Willow Street toward Buck. At the 372/272 intersection marked by a flashing yellow light, turn right onto 372 and continue until reaching Route 74. Turn left onto 74 South/Delta Road and travel approximately one mile until the road curves; Paper Mill Road will appear on your left. Stay on 74 South and take the third left turn after Paper Mill Road onto Pike's Peak Road, a dirt road resembling a driveway that's easily overlooked. Follow this road to its end, passing through a stop sign at Lay Road. At the Atom Road intersection, bear left and continue left onto Atom Road. The quarry entrance lies roughly half a mile down on the right side, marked by old concrete blocks displaying no trespassing warnings. Just past these blocks, a small dirt trail leads upward to the quarry site, extending several hundred yards and typically requiring four-wheel drive or substantial clearance. The quarry spans 0.8 miles but contains only one legitimate jumping area. Reaching the rock face requires swimming approximately 100 yards straight across the water. The primary jump, marked "Balls" in spray paint, was previously measured at 65 feet but water level increases suggest it's now 55-60 feet. Additional jumps ranging to 30 feet are scattered along the upper rocks. Jumping from other locations risks striking submerged sandbars created by rising water levels and causing serious injury.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
