About this spot

Brasstown Falls is a three-tiered, 120-foot cascade in Sumter National Forest off Brasstown Road, about 12 miles west of Westminster via US 76, then partly unpaved forest road to a trailhead near FS 751. The hike in is under a mile, with wooden steps, rock bridges, and a log ladder down to the base. A calm swimming hole sits below the upper drop, and locals are known to jump into the deepest section of the pool. The log ladder and surrounding rock slabs get slick, and flow can run fast and cold after rain, so footing near the veil and lower sluice is the real hazard. It's public national forest land, free and legal to visit year-round.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
