About this spot
Traveling south from Knoxville on Alcoa Highway through Maryville, head east on Route 321 toward Townsend. Follow directional signage to enter Cades Cove and proceed around the one-way loop road. Look for the marked turnoff leading to Abrams Falls Trail, which has a gravel access road and parking area. The hike itself covers approximately three miles and terminates at the waterfall. Ascend the left side of the falls to reach the jump site. When launching, direct yourself toward the pool area directly below where the falling water strikes. Note that water temperatures are quite cold. Be aware that bears inhabit the area and should not be approached or fed.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
