About this spot
Dudley Falls is a low, roadside cascade in the Paint Creek Corridor of Cherokee National Forest, about 0.8 miles down Lower Paint Creek Road from the campground fork, with its own gravel parking area and nearby restrooms. The falls itself is only about 15 feet tall, but the wide pool below is a well-documented family swimming hole—shallow enough for kids to wade, deeper near the rock wall, and rigged in the past with a rope swing, with some visitors tubing the current downstream. The main hazard is an uneven, algae-slick creek bed and inconsistent depth for jumping, so check the landing before using any rope swing. Free, no permit required, but not accessible for anyone with mobility limitations.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
