About this spot

Twin Falls sits inside Rock Island State Park in Warren County, where water seeps directly out of the Caney Fork River gorge wall rather than flowing over it — a byproduct of the 1925 dam upstream. The falls drop about 80 feet into the river below the TVA powerhouse. Reach it via a short trail from the park's downstream day-use area near the parking lot and nature center. Multiple trip reports and hiking guides document people swimming and jumping here for years. The critical hazard: state park officials explicitly prohibit swimming and cliff jumping in this stretch because of hidden, powerful currents tied to dam releases that can pull swimmers under with no warning. Jumping happens anyway, but it is illegal and has contributed to drownings — treat any water time here as high-risk.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly.
