About this spot
The granite gorge of the Maggia river at Ponte Brolla near Locarno is one of Europe's classic cliff-diving arenas and a long-time high-diving competition venue. Smooth rock ledges step up from 15 ft to 60+ ft above deep emerald pools. Alpine river rules apply: water is cold and levels rise fast with rain or upstream dam releases — check flow before committing, and never jump into whitewater.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
