About this spot

Starting from Norwich, VT, head along Main Street through town and turn left onto Turnpike Road. About half a mile ahead, turn right onto New Boston Road to reach the location. Continue on the paved section until it transitions to dirt, then keep going until you see a steep dirt climbing branch on the left with a yellow children at play warning sign directly beyond it. You can drive or walk up this left fork, continuing until the terrain levels out where there's a parking area on the left side. From there, backtrack to the steeper dirt section and locate a narrow trail ascending through the forest. This path leads to the former mine area with notably dark water. A roughly 20-foot cliff face appears immediately at the water's edge, while the right side offers higher jumps ranging from 40 to 60 feet based on your chosen entry point. The photos shown were taken from approximately 55 feet. The water maintains substantial depth throughout this zone.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
