About this spot
The jumps at this location are relatively modest in height, but the area offers an excellent hiking experience with multiple swimming holes and natural water slides. To reach the site from Route 29, take Hoover Road (turning right if heading south, left if heading north) and continue for 9.4 miles until you reach a T-intersection. Turn right onto VA 231N for 0.6 miles, then take your first left onto VA 670/Old Blue Ridge Turnpike. Travel 3.6 miles and turn right onto State Route 643, which is marked for White Oak Canyon. The road becomes Weakley Hollow Road after this turn. After approximately 4 miles, you'll find the parking area for White Oak Canyon on your left. Be aware that an entrance or parking fee is typically required, especially on weekends. The primary and most frequented swimming hole is reached via a 1.5 to 2-mile hike starting on White Oak Canyon Trail from the lot. About a quarter-mile in, Cedar Run Trail branches left—follow this path and you'll find the largest swimming hole on your right with clear, deep water. Additional swimming holes and slides can be found by continuing further up the trail. Most visitors explore White Oak Canyon instead, which features attractive slides and waterfalls but lacks jump opportunities.
