About this spot
Cave Point County Park, on Sturgeon Bay's Door Peninsula, is a well-documented Lake Michigan cliff-jumping spot where wave-carved limestone ledges (roughly 20-30 feet) meet clear, cold water. Access is free via Highway 57 north from Sturgeon Bay, then Clark Lake Road to the park entrance, a short walk from the ledges. Jumping is not officially banned, but rangers and locals actively discourage it — the water is often shallower than it looks, with hidden shelves, waves, and slick limestone causing regular injuries. New visitors should ask locals which ledges are currently safe, and never jump blind into unfamiliar sections.
