About this spot

This location requires an eight-mile backpack journey from the Supai Indian Reservation toward the Colorado River to access. Travel east on Route 66 from Kingman to reach the reservation. The jump site sits behind the cascading falls themselves, with the waterfall serving as a dramatic backdrop and spray creating excellent photo opportunities across the swimming pool below. While the waterfall's crest is technically jumpable, the Supai tribe enforces a $2,000 fine for anyone caught jumping from the top. Historically, tribal members would leap from this height as a rite of passage to demonstrate courage. In recent times, intoxicated visitors attempting the jump without proper experience have required emergency helicopter evacuations. Be aware that tribal police maintain traffic enforcement on reservation roads, with speeding violations handled directly by tribal courts.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
