About this spot
Copper Canyon is a narrow rock canyon on Lake Havasu's California side, reachable only by boat or by hiking a shoreline trail; it has been one of the lake's most famous cliff-jumping and boat-party spots for decades, marked by a landmark 'keyhole' rock at the canyon entrance. Jump points along the canyon walls run roughly 20-25 feet. It draws heavy crowds and boat traffic in summer, and depth shifts with lake level and submerged debris divers regularly recover from the canyon floor. A 19-year-old man died here cliff jumping in 2021, underscoring that this is more dangerous than the party-spot reputation suggests. No lifeguards, no permit; entirely at your own risk.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
